About our Benefice
Our Worshipping Life
Each individual church has its own distinctive pattern of worship developed to serve the community in which it is set.
Increasingly our worshipping life extends beyond the four walls of our church buildings with acts of worship regularly taking place in our schools, community centres and residential homes.
The style of worship on offer extends from Book of Common Prayer Morning Prayer or Communion to Messy Church and ‘One Voice’ with a live worship band.
We hope that between us we can offer a style of worship that allows many people to come and spend time in God’s presence to offer him worship.
In all three churches our teaching is bible based and designed to both challenge and encourage us all to live out our lives as true disciples in the world.
Children & Young People
Children and Young People are central to our lives as churches. Our pattern of worship is designed in all three churches to incorporate young people in all that we do. (Please see the Calendar for details of specific services in each church).
In addition to our church life, we also undertake a number of things for children in our schools – both Horsley and Nailsworth Schools are Church Schools.
A team of people take regular acts of Worship in our schools and also offer ‘Open the Book’. You can find out more on the Children and Young people page.
Working with PSALMS ( a partner organisation employing Youth Ministers) we run after-school clubs in both schools, seasonal ‘Experience’ days, a Christian Youth Club, regular Holiday Clubs, a summer Youth Residential Camp and Messy Church.
Caring for each other
As well as worshipping together, we recognise the need to care for one another. In some churches we run a Visiting and Befriending scheme, but in all we take our commitment to care seriously. This extends beyond just the immediate church family as we visit residential homes and individuals in their homes offering a listening ear or the chance to take communion.
Horsley, Kingscote and Nailsworth are all tight knit communities, despite their very different sizes. Each church is set at the heart of the community and we take seriously the call to be ‘salt, yeast & light’. We do all that we can to play a full part in the life of our communities by being represented in many local committees and boards as well as the Governors of the two schools. We also do all that we can to offer our buildings as Community resources. Details of how this is done and what we can offer can be found under each church’s heading.
