St George's, Nailsworth

Our Worship

We are a town church and offer a variety of services which we hope will suit everyone and offer a range of ‘styles’ to suit many ways of worshipping.

This is our current pattern!

1st Sunday @ 11.00 am - Our Family Service For all ages from 0 – 100!

This is a less formal service and there are no children groups on this Sunday. Mixture of modern and traditional hymns. Baptisms may take place during this service. Approx duration: 50mins followed by refreshments in our Parish Rooms.

2nd & 4th Sunday @ 11.00 am - A more traditional Communion Service

A traditional Common Worship Service with singing led by our small but dedicated Choir. On the 4th Sunday there is also an opportunity for Prayer Ministry in the Chapel after the service. Approx duration: 1.10 mins followed by refreshments in our Parish Rooms.

3rd Sunday 11.00 am - Family Communion

An all-age Family friendly simple Communion service with hymns both traditional and modern. Approx duration: 1hr followed by refreshments in our Parish Rooms.

Additional services

1st Sunday @ 8am - Holy Communion.

Quiet and reflective, our music free, early morning service follows the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. Approx duration: 40 mins.

5th Sunday @ 11.00am

Normally a united benefice service in one of our Churches – Nailsworth, Horsley or Kingscote.

Wednesday @ 10.00 am – A shorter midweek Communion Service without hymns; this is popular with those who find a longer service on Sunday a bit too difficult! In the summer months this takes place in the church, but during the winter we move into the Parish Rooms alongside.

Messy Church

Every couple of months we join with our ecumenical partners to put on a Sunday afternoon ‘Messy Church’ in the Primary School up in Forest Green. This runs from 3.30 until 5.00 pm. Upcoming dates are included on the Services & Events Page or listed on the News Feed on the front page. Messy Church is an afternoon of Crafts, Games, Worship and Food for all the family.

On other months we meet at 4.00 pm at the school for a much more family-friendly form of worship. To find out precise timings, check the Services & Events Page.
