Church and Community

Church & Community

St George’s is involved with the wider community in many differing ways. We offer a community resource in our Church building and the adjoining Parish Rooms.

We support local organisations through membership of committees etc from the local Uniformed Organisation to the Town Council and Youth Club.

We also support local initiatives such as the Stroud Foodbank, collecting food at the church and also from local supermarkets.

Our financial support for charity goes beyond the shores of the UK. We are committed to giving 10% of our income to support the needs of our world.

 Parish Room or Church Bookings

The Parish Room with its ramped access offers accommodation for groups of all sizes. It is possible to have a partition closed making the room even more friendly for smaller groups. The well-equipped kitchen makes the room an attractive venue for a family ‘get together’. An added attraction is exclusive use of the car park.

The church is also available to hire as a concert venue or as an exhibition space. It is equipped with both sound and projection systems.

Churches together

St George 's is one of four churches who form Churches Together in Nailsworth. Our partners are Christ Church (an LEP formed of the Baptist, Methodist and URC congregations), the Society of Friends (Quakers) and the Roman Catholic Parish of the Annunciation at Woodchester

We hold joint Lent Study groups, have a presence at Nailsworth Festival and join together for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.

In addition, St George’s and Christ Church share in the organisation of Messy Church every two months.

Below you will find links to our Ecumenical Partners.
Charitable Giving

St George’s gives to a number of Christian Charities including CMS (supporting mission overseas), The Children’s Society, Christian Aid and Wateraid. We also organise special collections following world disasters.
